Where Wireless Works

Morehouse has 802.11b/g "WiFi" type data networking in numerous locations around campus. This document should help you find them. The SSID for this network is "Morehouse".

In order to use the wireless network, your device *must* be in a place where the wireless signal exists. As of October 2006, these places are (roughly):

  • Douglass Hall (all of it)
  • Kilgore Center (in and around)
  • Leadership Center (all of it)
  • Tech Tower (most of it, but not Merrill)
  • Mays Hall Lounge
  • Campus Green (Hope Hall end)
  • Study rooms in the Morehouse Suites
  • Archer Hall game/TV room
  • Graves Hall laundry
  • Dorm common areas (for dorms not mentioned specifically)
  • Sale Hall basement
  • Brawley Hall, east end
  • Dansby Hall, bottom level, center of building
  • Wheeler Hall, west end, low in the building
  • Nabrit, Mapp, McBay Hall, first floor, center of building

If you don't have signal bars in your WiFi meter, you are NOT in a covered zone, so it just won't work.

During the Fall and Winter of 2006, more of the academic areas will be targeted, with the goal of at least sparse coverage of all major classroom spaces. Anticipated improvements will be made in: Wheeler, Brawley, Dansby, Nabrit.
