Configuring Email Clients for Morehouse Faculty/Staff Email Access

The basic settings a faculty or staff member should use when configuring a standalone email client like Eudora or Outlook are shown below. Not all of these items are required for all email clients -- if yours doesn't ask for all of this, don't worry; just fill in what's there.

Username: wcoyote
POP Account: wcoyote@facstaff.morehouse.edu
Return Address: wcoyote@morehouse.edu
Real Name: Dr. Wile E. Coyote, Supra Genius
SMTP or Outgoing Server: smtp.morehouse.edu
Incoming Mail Server: mail.morehouse.edu

The username, which is the first part of the POP Account, is assigned by Morehouse and is not something that can be made up! Contact the HelpDesk to find out what this is, if you don't know.

The "Real Name" field can contain just about anything, but should not include special characters, parentheses, quotes, etc. Stick with letters, numbers, and spaces, and commas. It's wise to use your actual real name here, particularly since people tend to delete emails from names they don't recognize.

The SMTP Server field must be the SMTP server for your Internet Service Provider. On-campus faculty/staff should use the settings shown above, but those who use a company other than Morehouse (BellSouth, for instance) to connect to the Internet (from home, for instance) must use that company's SMTP server. Otherwise, they'll only be able to send email to Morehouse addresses.

Faculty/Staff webmail is also available. Or, if you'd rather, try TigerNet: it's prettier.
